S A Veterinary Surgeons is a small animal surgical service providing high-quality procedures delivered directly to veterinary practices and pet owners by prior arrangement. Our peripatetic model brings advanced surgical expertise to the patient, reducing stress for pets and giving practices reliable access to skilled surgical support whenever they need it. This service is jointly led by Sylvie and Abby.
Dr Sylvie Derbyshire BVetMed GPCertSAS MRCVS
Sylvie graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2006 and has built a broad and accomplished clinical career spanning busy first opinion practices, 24 hour hospital environments and referral centres.
Sylvie holds the ESPVS General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery which she completed in 2012. She has a particular interest in fracture repairs and cruciate ligament disease. Sylvie complements the service with her strong surgical capabilities dependable decision-making and commitment to delivering patient centred care.
Away from work, Sylvie manages a family with two kids, two Border Terriers, 3 horses and a small collection of farm animals.
Dr Abby Muscroft BVM BVS PGCertSAS MRCVS
Abby graduated from Nottingham University in 2014 and began her career in general small animal practice before focusing on small animal surgery. She completed the BSAVA certificate in small animal surgery with distinction and has since honed her skills in busy surgical environments and practice management roles. Abby has a particular interest in patellar luxation and the management of brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome, combining technical precision with practical experience to deliver outstanding patient outcomes.
Outside of the veterinary field Abby takes part in triathlon events and has a small fold of Highland cows to keep her and her spaniels busy.
Together Sylvie and Abby provide a balanced highly skilled team with a shared commitment to thoughtful planning, clear communication and clinical excellence.
